About the plays

Marriage and Murder – 3 one-acts

A Man’s Best Friend by James Saunders
A couple of newly-weds in a railway carriage on their way to the honeymoon: a moment of suspense in between two stages in life.
They are getting to know each other better. What is their holiday, and what is living together going to be like?

The Butleress by Nick Stoller
The Butleress – but that’s not a word? Four ambitious American women come together to rehearse an obscure British play called The Butleress, apparently a classic murder mystery which is set in an old English manor house, cut off from the outside world. As the production progresses, mysterious things start to happen in the little local theatre. An unknown force takes over, making the actresses’ blood run cold.

A Slight Accident by James Saunders
Penelope, middle-aged and married, has so far led a really uneventful middle-class life. All of a sudden and completely unexpectedly, a surprising slight accident happens. Can she manage to explain the events to her friends, can she understand the accident herself?
