A theatre group does not consist of actors only. We immensely appreciate help backstage, i.e. with prompting, language and sometimes other coaching (dancing, fencing etc.), general organisation, the programme, poster design, PR, photography, filming, costumes, the set, technical effects and props, sound recordings, makeup and box office shifts.
We rehearse twice a week, Thursday and Sunday nights, usually from 8 p.m. onwards, up to three hours at a time. Our Thursday rehearsals take place at university, Sunday rehearsals downtown at the TuFa. Being generally available on those nights is a must, though not everyone needs to be at every rehearsal, of course. We sometimes schedule a whole weekend of rehearsals to get things done. Once we get closer to a performance we become more demanding, sometimes more than 20 hours in the last weeks before opening night are needed.
Most members are students at the university of Trier or were students at some point but the group is officially open to everyone. The wider variety of ages and backgrounds actually enables us to do a larger variety of projects convincingly. Native speakers are especially welcome – usually there are one or two in the group. We do not look for professional players. However, if you want to be on stage, you must have a certain proficiency in English and, most importantly of all, you have to be reliable. We do not believe in fake casting days but long-term commitment, in other words: we need to get to know people before we cast anybody.
Our directors, Elke and Christoph Nonn, take care of member coordination. If you want to join us in any capacity, send them an e-mail: christoph.nonn@t-online.de.
