It is summer in the small and up to now peaceful town of Athens (Ohio). But trouble is brewing. Children dare to answer back to their parents, the hydra of feminism raises its many ugly heads against the ruling patriarchy, and even more sinister forces are at work in the surrounding forest. Entangled in complicated dating-and-mating relationships, the young people from uptown in a romantic mood resolve to flee into the woods. The members of a more down-to-earth amateur theater group decide to have the first rehearsal of their new play there as well. All of them will meet in the forest on midsummer night – and it will be a night they are going to remember for a very long time…
